BREAKING NEWS, THIS YEAR’S RUDY AWARD! By Yvonne

I started to interrupt my vacation to bring you this year’s Rudy Award Winner. I changed my mind because stupid, insensitive questions, unfortunately, are here to stay.

One night this summer, I was at a really nice party in Harlem taking in a barely there summer breeze on a patio. A young woman was sitting at the table. Some how the name of a late and great musician (Hint: He played the trumpet.) I told her that I’d once dated him. She asked, with out missing a beat, “Did he beat you up too?”

I don’t know what makes people tick, but I know what ticks me off, stupid ass questions! So, Miss Obnoxious congratulations on earning a well deserved RUDY. Here are your beat up flowers.

Think before you speak and think before you ask.

Another rude comment: an older person dies, next question:

How old was he? You answer, they say "he lived a long life". Does that mean it's not a big loss because of his age?

Wow is all I can say!!! Why would that be the first question that would come to mind?!

I would have asked if he was good with his hands. ;)

We live in a coarse society and unfortunately it's getting worst. It's becoming commonplace to be rude. Miles track "poetics of sound" is one of my favorite, which I will take a listen to before leaving this morning. Further, there was a doc on PBS about the famous and rich at the Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Miles beautiful headstone was featured. I've learned long ago not to be judgmental lest ye be judged -- I sin enough and stand in the need of prayer daily. However ignorance is scary and can kill you. Smile.

Very unfortunate. I love the dried out flowers. Nice touch.

Yes think before you speak. I am usually caught off guard when people say something so rude, and only think of a proper response until much later. Like one of my co-workers, who is really a co-owner of the group I work for, yesterday said "you know, you really are gaining weight." As if I don't have a scale or a mirror. What was the point of that? I would NEVER say that to ANYONE. Anyway, yours takes the cake Yvonne, but I must ask, can we nominate people for the Rudy award?
